If you’re thinking about booking family photography in Perth, it’s completely normal to have questions.
For a lot of mums, the idea of organising a family session can feel like one more thing to think about. What do we wear? What if the kids do not cooperate? What happens if the weather is bad?
The good news is, it does not have to feel hard.
My family sessions are designed to be fun, easy and full of real connection, and I’ll guide you through the whole process so you do not have to figure it all out on your own.
Here are some of the most common questions I get about family photography in Perth.

What if my kids do not sit still?
That is completely okay.
In fact, I never expect children to stand still and smile at the camera for long. My sessions are built around movement, play, cuddles and connection, which is usually where the best photos happen anyway.
Some of the most beautiful moments come from kids simply being themselves.
What should we wear?
I always recommend choosing outfits that feel comfortable, natural and easy to move in.
Soft, neutral or earthy tones usually photograph beautifully and help keep the focus on your family rather than what everyone is wearing. I also offer access to my client wardrobe for women, which can make things feel much easier.
Once you book, I’ll guide you with outfit suggestions so you are not left figuring it out alone.

Where do family sessions take place?
Family sessions can take place outdoors at one of my favourite Perth locations, or in your home if that feels like a better fit for your family.
Whether you love the beach, open fields, a more natural bush setting or the comfort of home, I can help you choose a location that suits the kind of images you love.
What if I feel awkward in front of the camera?
You are definitely not the only one.
Most mums tell me this before their session, and most leave saying it felt much easier than they expected. My job is to guide you in a way that feels natural, so nothing feels stiff or forced.
You do not need to know what to do. You just need to show up and enjoy your people.

Can my partner be in the photos too?
Absolutely.
Family sessions are about all of you, the connection you share, the way your family feels right now, and the little moments that matter. Partners are always welcome and encouraged to be part of the session.
Can we include our dog?
Often yes, depending on the location.
If your dog is part of the family and you would love them included, just let me know when you enquire and I can help suggest the best location options.
How long does a family session go for?
This depends on the collection you choose.
My Signature Collection includes a 45-minute session, and my Full Story Collection includes a 60-minute session.
That is usually plenty of time to capture a beautiful mix of images without things feeling rushed or drawn out.
How much does it cost?

When should I book?
If you already know you would love family photos, I always recommend getting in touch early.
That gives you the best chance of securing a date that suits your family, especially during busy seasons like autumn and spring.

What happens if the weather is bad?
If the weather is not looking great for your session, we’ll simply reschedule.
I always want the conditions to suit the kind of images you’re hoping for, so if Perth decides to do its own thing, we’ll make another plan.
How long does it take to receive my photos?
Once your session is finished, I carefully edit your gallery and deliver it online for you to view and choose your images.
I’ll let you know the current turnaround time when you book, so you know exactly what to expect.
Why book family photos now?
Because these seasons change so quickly.
The cheeky smiles, the cuddles, the way your little ones reach for you, the happy chaos of family life, it all shifts before you even realise it.
You do not need to wait for everything to feel perfect. You do not need kids who sit still. And you do not need to have it all together.
You just need a chance to slow down, enjoy your family, and let someone capture the love and connection that is already there.
